Our slumber party was fun, as was the following morning's coffee shop gab session and shopping. The afternoon/evening's headache was not. Wretched weather can't make up it's mind. *shakes fist at sky*

The Duchess movie was certainly the costume porn I'd heard it proported to be. My favorite part of the 18th century too - yummy! The hair *gasp* and the jewelry *sigh*. The costumes I'd give a 10, the movie a 3. The story itself was interesting (bit of a downer though) and the acting good but we spent more of the film than I like with the fast forward button in hand. Personally I prefer certain things to be left to the imagination. *ahem* So I guess not seeing it in the theater wasn’t such a bad deal. No fast forward button there...

Still I have spent a good chunk of the day browsing and being inspired on the Duchess site (where was that last year when we were making riding habits and redingotes!) and Costumer’s Guide. I was so inspired I went to the fabric store and bought lining for new stays. Heck, I may even get some *now don't faint* SEWING done this vacation!

The rest of my day today was spent working on headdresses. Bridget and I plotted out the tiara for Queen of the Night and started work on [livejournal.com profile] girliegirl32786's wedding diadem. [livejournal.com profile] girliegirl32786's diadem is going well and I'm super excited to see our vision for the QotN become reality. Yeah, the late 18th century is definitely singing her siren song!

All I can say is it's about time - I was begining to think I'd lost my costume fu or something.

Wow. I just looked at my LJ tag and realized I really haven't posted pics of [livejournal.com profile] dancinseamtres's wedding gown have I? *slaps hand* Bad Jenny-Rose! Again insane week. However I did at least take pics. Yay me. I'm sure Brooke's offical ones will be better but until she posts a few of those *hintcoughhint* I've put mine in an album along with commentary so enjoy...

Today [livejournal.com profile] caseysmusings came over for a week's visit. I've really been looking forward to it, some time to catch up and hang out before her wedding maddness hits full force.

We spent the afternoon/evening chatting non-stop while she knitted and I beaded. I'm doing the beading on [livejournal.com profile] dancinseamstres's wedding gown. She wanted some sparkle on her gown and is running out of time to do it herself so it was really the perfect thing to give to a dear costuming buddy as her wedding gift. :>

Brooke dropped off the train section this weekend so that is what I'm working on. So far I've finished a simple little edging on the hem and started worked in the center back. I'm really having way too much fun with it, hopefully Brooke will be pleased with the results. *crosses fingers* Pics tomorrow...

*waves* First I would like to give huge thanks to everyone who wrote to encourage me and check up on me during my LJ hiatus. A very special thank you for the chocolates & postcards. You guys really are the best.

I meant to break my hiatus long before this but by the time I was ready to come back my trip to San Diego was suddenly upon me. The trip was incredible as I celebrated the wedding of my dearest Maegan. I went out almost a week early for my maid of honor duties, to generally help out and spend some time with M before her big day. It was the best week ever, if emotional and a bit crazy toward the end. It was just what I needed. To be home in SD again, be with dear friends, spend time with my family and away from my office... exactly what I needed to recharge my batteries... once I catch up on my sleep that is!

I've posted a few favorite pics (I took about 550 while I was away!) starting at the bachelorette party Bridget & I threw for the girls. There are more to come, at least I hope so as there aren't many of me on my camera. The professional ones of the wedding party in Balboa Park are the ones I can't WAIT to see - woo hoo! My pics are here:

What else have I been up? )

Life has been full of sisterhood, shopping and the wedding projects, hence no costuming from the home front. I did work on a long dormant jewelry project tonight and have been researching a bit on some future projects but that is about it.

The wedding projects are going well. I've got all the de-construction work done on the dress and have started putting the bodice back together. I worked a little too late last night and made a cutting error but I think I can fudge it, I just need another fitting now to double check the arm hole. Oh yes and my bride needs to find a pair of shoes so I can mark the hem. *sigh*

The headdress is now officially done though. I just finished tying off the threads so yay! It's gorgeous if I do say so myself. Bridget really outdid herself and we added some fun little personal touches to make it extra special. We even found a lovely presentation box at Bombay to put it in. I'll have to take pics before we give it to her on Thursday for you'all to see...

Have finished the headdress so quickly B decided to add some embroidery to the dress itself (with the bride's okay) so she is making that look fabulous as well. She’s also working on Mom's dress for the ballroom dance black-tie dinner & dance next month, adding beads and sequins to a Ross Dress For Less special. I should get her to do something to my frock as well I guess. Although after the Fire costume I still feel like I owe her big time!!

It is SO nice to have her home. :>
