a shortcut

I'm thinking about getting a Frederick's of Hollywood corset, to save CC costuming time. There is one in my size on e-bay right now. My last Victorian corset was an E-bay buy but I don't know! What do you think? Should I just buckle down and make the LM despite time restraints or try this shortcut?

Thanks all for your advice on the "faux" corset question. :> I decided to go ahead and bid on the e-bay one I was looking at and I won. It was pretty hard to pass up as I got it for less than $20. The ever-sweet chloeandrudy has also offered to loan me an extra corset until CC as well so I'm sure one of those will do the trick - if not both! *sigh* I really do have the most wonderful costuming friends. :>

In other news the Mother-Daughter tea is over and we are in the full swing of party prep for B's graduation festivities. I'm tired but hanging in there. Next week I am SO taking a few days for me and that means sewing for me! Looking forward to that.

The weekend brought some good mail, my Fire jewelry (so gorgeous - sparkly & heavy!) and the package from laurenmonkey. Yummy!

I think that inspiration on the Fire has finally struck but I'm thinking a secret project may be in order. *rubs hands with glee* bauhausfrau & jehanni will be able to guess as I told them some of my ideas at Fort Fred but other than that... :>

While I'm on the subject of jewelry...

Here is a necklace I made a little while ago I thought you might get a kick out of. Excuse my messy room. :> It's made of leftover pearls from the Gilded Ren dress and hematite beads my Dad brought me from his first Navy deployment when I was 8. I think they are from Peru... someplace down there. :>

I was just trying to use what I had so they are plastic pearls. I'm glad I did now though, they balence out the super heavy hematite. I'm trying not to give in to the urge to take it off the stringing wire and knot it. I do love the feel of a knotted necklace! :>


And my new Fire jewelry. I have to admit my biggest fear in going with an Indian style set was getting something that looked like cheap Bollywood costume jewelry. I'm very happy to say this does not and the seller's comments on quality were correct. It sparkles wonderfully and has a lovely weight to it. The way it's constructed is very cool and I'm thinking about taking it apart to lengthen it (so it encircles my whole neck) but we'll see.
