I've posted the pics from Twelfth Night on my site here:

Twelfth Night 2007

And a stealth video B took of Brooke teaching us how to Charleston. :>

I just finished sewing the eyes on the red print so it's now offically finished - yay! Thanks so much for all your comments - you are all so sweet!

I've put up a page on the dress on my website here. I think I'm going to spend the rest of the night messing about my site. The poor thing has been neglected lately. Besides I'm tired and doing feel like doing anything else.
jennylafleur: (bother)
Okay the Costume page (indexing all the diaries) is now updated... I don't think I've forgotten any projects.

After some investigating the damage seems to be minimal, just the main index pages (costume, events, study, log, Titanic etc.). The biggest loss is the log archive, as there is no way I can reconstruct that, but I daresay life will go on without it.

The unfortunate event apparently occured last week when I went to download select pages from the server to my computer (my way of backing them up). Instead I did the opposite, uploading the old (backed-up) versions to the server and losing the new. Thank goodness I didn't make that mistake when backing up the diaries or Titanic doll pages - I would have died!

I guess the lesson is once again to back up files OFTEN. You'd think I would have learned by now... :>
jennylafleur: (angst)
I don't know how I managed it but I have deleted several of the pages from my website. Like all the main indexes, the log and such contact type pages. The newest copy I have is from April so some pages are now 6 months behind.

The damage is not reversible so please be patient with me as I re-construct my site. Lucky all the dress diaries are intact (proof that God is merciful), you may not find them all linked up however. I'll fix that page first.

Maybe it's a sign to redesign my website or something. *sigh* I hate days like this I really do. So far I've had two weeks of them. *scowls* At least my dress is pretty. *tries to look on the bright side*

new layout

I didn't feel like pleating tonight so instead a new look for my LJ, to better reflect my desire for autumn! Apples, sweaters, crisp air, warm sunlight and reading in front of the woodfire… *taps foot* Come on - hurry up and get here!!!

Also, a bit of matchy-matchy with my site. Seemed like a good idea at the time... :>
jennylafleur: (pirate)
I spent a bit of my weekend updating my site - poor neglected thing! Looks like it was the thing to be doing. I giggled a bit reading my friends list - great minds think alike I guess! :> You've seen it all here on LJ first but in case you were curious...

Updated Costuming Gallery with the latest in project status, including finishing off the diaries and galleries for Erté Dress & Abeille d'Or.

Added a new diary for my new Crewelwork Pocket. Finally got around to doing the diary for the Pirate - it's only taken me what 6 months?! *shakes head*

Oh I also added pics to the Ruffled Jacket diary gallery with pics from 4th of July - some of which you guys haven't seen yet. :>

I did a bit of tweaking on the Titanic doll side but you probably wouldn't even notice. Just trying to get those pages a bit more streamlined, stand sized pics that sort of thing. Like anyone cares but me but it's my site. So there. *grin*

Oh yes! Last night at dance class I was able to flip through 18th Century Embroidery Techniques. *clutches heart* Oh. My. Gosh. It was a struggle to keep the drool off the book!

Gorgeous! And not only full of period inspiration but line draws of the designs, the stitches used and other helpful info on period techniques. I also loved that there were full line drawings of the garments the embellishment is on. I mean those are drool worthy by themselves! High quality all the way around, similar to Costume Close-Up and Historical Fashion in Detail – only for embroidery.

I.Must.Have!!!! It’s so cruel of Amazon to advertise it for $15 but say it’s not available yet!! I might just have to break down and get it somewhere for more – I want it now!!

Also, I stayed up far too late doing it but I’ve updated my website. I’ve updated the current diaries and added some pics to the red stripe gallery. I also found a way to streamline the site a bit more by combining the diary and gallery pages into one. The other way was confusing to me, I don’t know about anyone else. Now at a glance you can see all my projects and whether they have a diary or a précis (short description or abstract).

In future expect to see more précis than diaries. I just don't have the time for full on diaries like I used to. Also most of my projects are simply new versions or building from projects I've already done diaries on. A diary for every covered hat or robe l'Anglaise just isn't necessary nor practical.

I've updated my site with some goodies...

The Event galleries have been updated with pics from Stratford Hall (inculding some I haven't posted here). The Gallery of costumes has been updated with a page for my new red wool cloak (nothing new for you guys). I'm also added the diary for the 1770s Ballgown I'm working on. See, I do update my site! *hee hee*
jennylafleur: (rohan)
I've updated my site with a reinstated the diary for my Quilted Petticoat now that I have begun that project again in earnest. I've also finished updating the format on the Titanic Doll pages. *throws confetti*

The only good thing about being sick... brainless web pages are fun. :>
jennylafleur: (1912)
Whew! Just finished a large update to the site. Mostly tweaking type stuff that I've been working on in my spare time for the last 6 weeks. There are a few additions and changes of note however:

Journals: I've been slowing changing to a slightly new format in the diaries, something a bit more streamlined and simpler, with less pages. All the diaries are now converted. Most of the corsets/underpinnings have their own diaries now. Some diary addys have been changed as well so my apologies for any broken links. It's all for the betterment of mankind, really. *grin*

Journals: added the re-vamp section to Elvish Blues and 12th night pics to Rose of Rohan.

Gallery: added a page on my 1910-1920 camisole to the Vintage section

Scribbings: added a new page, Elvish Banners. For now it's an archived copy of LJ entries on the subject. I may re-write it a bit so it's more of a condensed "how-we-did" at some point. Haven't decided yet.

Reel Titanic: the Titanic Doll pages have a new look

I'm feeling incredibly lazy about addng links to everything in this entry. You will find links and such on the Log page though.

Oh yes and I've added a list of my current projects and their status to my LJ profile page. It's mostly for my own reckoning. There doesn't seem a a better place to put it here or on my site...
jennylafleur: (ren)
Just finished updating the site with all the Ren pics. Details from the Log below:

August 30 2004
I'm back from the Ren Faire and have lots of pics to post!
Gallery updated: Ren Faire 2004 page added to the Dress Up gallery.
Journals updated: new entries and pics in Faire Garb. The outfit and diary are now officially complete.
Journals updated: new pics in Elvish Blues. Pics of Bridget in the gown.
jennylafleur: (rohan)
Just updated the site with all the changes I’ve been working on. It took me way longer than it should have, lots of little coding errors that couldn’t wait once the page went live. Blah.

the Log:

August 16 2004
Lots of tweaking! Color changes, font changes, file organizing - all sorts of fun, completely unnecessary goodies. *smile*
Links updated: mostly just updating addresses for existing links. One new one in Dress Diaries.
Banners updated: a new batch of link-banners! It's only been, what 2 years since I made new ones? So sad. Not too many at the moment, still working on those.
Journals updated: new entry in Faire Garb. Much eyelet fun. (just catching up from the LJ)

Ack! Look at the time. What am I still doing up! I’m off to bed now.
jennylafleur: (ren)
I haven't done much sewing this week. Okay, so make that haven’t done any sewing. Motivation issues mostly. I have been working on the Faire Garb eyelets tonight though. I'm proud of me. I've got almost half of the wretched things done already. I just finished watching FOTR (started at dinner and continued with eyelets). I thought I would take a little break, by hopping on the computer, before I popped The Two Towers in. I love those movies!

Instead of sewing this week, I've mostly been messing about with my site. Once a year or so, I get the urge to change something on every single page just for the heck of it. I really need help. This year’s totally un-necessary project is to change the text color (from cream to white and vice versa for the links), as well as re-organize some of the filing. Picture lots of new little .gif files and slight coding changes to every single page. So make that, I really need professional help. Anyway... the only thing of substance I'm doing is updating the links. I'm almost done with all that madness, just the dress diaries to go. I'll post here when it's actually uploaded.

In other news…
We have fake hair! I just thought you needed to know that. *smirk* Bridget and I finally made it to Sally’s and got the hair for her Elvish extensions and my Ren-do. We've only been trying to get to it for a month. *sigh* Simple things can be very hard when your sis works a night job.

Looks like we probably won't have an opportunity to do the trial run of her hair before the Faire. Mine will have to wait until the day of the Faire too. It makes me a little nervous but not much I can do. She doesn't have another day off before she quits for school and then we will be running around trying to shop and move her into the dorm. Ack! It will make that morning more exciting I guess. :>

That's all for now I think... yep. I’m ready to face more eyelets and TT. Or at least a few more eyelets and part of TT. :>

*trots off to carry on with eyelet fun* :>
jennylafleur: (rohan)
I have totally stressed my eyes out, I know it. I was a very bad girl and spent the entire day in front of the computer. Did I spend it doing stuff that needs to be done? Nope! Spent the day fiddling with my costuming site, you know a few pages that have bugged me. Not that the old versions weren’t totally adequate or anything… I'm so weak! Here is the Log report if you are curious to see what I've been up to:

July 17 2004
Gallery updated: I have combined the old gallery index and the Promenade. New format and write-ups for most things in a style totally stolen...umm I mean inspired, yeah that's right - inspired by Mode Historic and Festive Attyre. I enjoyed their costume galleries so much I decided I needed one similar. I'm still working on those costumes that have dress dairies, for now they are linked to their DDs.

Journals updated: new diary Elvish Blues, featuring Bridget's costume for this year's Ren Faire. This is a post-completion diary, an attempt to not overwhelm myself with too many current diaries but still put the info on the site. All that is left to do is to take finial pics of Bridget in the costume. Look for those in a few weeks.

I've also changed the format on the Journal page a bit. The completed diaries are organized a bit better, at least I think they are.

jennylafleur: (Default)
First - thank you so much everyone for your impute and extremely helpful comments on my format dilemma. You all are the greatest! Option three seems to be the overwhelming preference so that is what I will be going with. It's actually the easiest for me to maintain too. I love it! :>

I'm just about ready to upload the pages on my site. I'll probably have the time to do the uploading, inevitable code fixing, newsletter writing and shameless plugging on message boards tonight. :> For now I'm putting up the info here (so I have it in both places). The pockets are the only thing I have started so the rest is basic notes, mostly for my reference at this point. I apologize for messing up your friend's pages with tons of entries but it’s the easiest way for me to keep it all organized at this point... I won't make it a habit I promise! *grin*
jennylafleur: (Default)
I can't decide which I like best so I need your opinion please! I'm working on the format for the new 18th century diaries but I'm not sure how to place the pics.

Option One - pics lined up with specific entry. (old format)
Option Two - pics in right hand column, not necessary lined up with correct entry.
Option Three - pics placed horizontally at the top or bottom of entry. (like LJ entries)

Which do you prefer and why? Thanks so much for you feedback!
jennylafleur: (lotr)
I spent most of today working on my site. I noticed this morning that I hadn’t updated the Rohan dress diary with LJ entries for 3 weeks. Bad webmistress! I'm going to have to set aside a day and time to check that the dress diaries on the site are up-to-date with reality each week or it won't get done. Maybe Sundays evenings would work. Most of what I worked on, the 18th century project, is not uploaded yet. Still tweaking and adding info...

I had a chance to cut out that black skirt and the pocket today too. I cut out a square of fabric and marked the cutting lines anyway. I'll run a large running stitch around the marks so they won't fade as I embroider. It's so much easier to use a hoop before the actual shape is cut!

I also, like a good girl, pulled out the Rohan dress and finished applying the second row of trim along the neckline. I think it needs another row though. *sigh* It's about 3½ hours work per row. It's moments like these when I wish I weren't such a perfectionist about the little things. :P

Updated my site last night. I uploaded my "spring cleaning & tweaking" (been working off-line on it for a while) so it was a big update. Most of the main section pages have a new look, all the link pages do as well. I stayed with the old black background and the Italian font but I played around with the layout trying to make everything look more cohesive and pretty.

Added a few new links while I was fixing the link pages, including a way overdue one for [livejournal.com profile] elizabethsdress. I am so bad about updating my links!
Also added a search engine. I used the one on Padawan's Guide and found it to be very helpful, so I decided to add the same one to my site. It's a free Google one. Love Google!
Updated the Eowyn journal with a summery of the silk dyeing saga too.

I still have a few more things I want to update/tweak of course. A web-mistress's work is never done! :>
