jennylafleur: (doll)

Doll making strikes me as rather creepy, what with un-attached limbs laying around the place. It's really rather odd.

I'm enjoying the project though. I have visions of mini stays, mini quilted petticoats and matching shoes (the later being entirely [livejournal.com profile] bauhausfrau's fault of course). *rubs hands with glee* Yes, indeed soon the fun part will begin! The hard part will be deciding on what outfit to make first.

Today's progress has involved trying on the toile, re-pinning and trying on again, trimming and trying on again... well you get the idea. First time I tried it on, as is from the last time I worked on it (and didn't take pictures). So the original S&S cross-over bodice with the Bee robe lining.

Second time I let the pleats out of the shoulder area to fill out the wider back/shoulder seam. It took out a fair amount of the fullness and changed the neckline a bit as well.

Third time I put the pleats back in the original place and trimmed down the wide lining. I think I like the neckline better this way. I need to scoop out the back a bit more though, the straight across isn't terribly flattering.

Oh two tidbits of interest -

1- I've heard through the grapevine that the CC Gala has sold out, although I haven't confirmed that myself. I don't have a ticket as I was waiting for birthday money. Moo. Any news on the tea, is it sold out as well?

2- Coaching Days at Stratford Hall is this April! It's an event they do every 3 years featuring coaches, horses and hounds. I just missed the event last time around (my first outfit wasn’t quite finished) so I'm jazzed to be attending this time around. I don't know if the public comes in costume to this (RCHS is part of the official entertainment) but there is a tailgating contest so I'm thinking it might be acceptable at this event. Pictures from the last event here and more info here.

So do I want to make a riding habit, a later traveling gown or a Brunswick? All of them are on my list and would be perfect for the event. I have some lovely navy blue dress-weight wool that would work for any of them... *ponders*
