My computer guru came through so I can share pics once again! First up my bustle progress. I haven’t gotten further than reading the patterns but I have been shopping – my favorite thing!
Today I went to Jo-Anns, armed with coupons, and bought the fabrics for my corset. I went with an open mind, determined to get something interesting and that made me feel happy. I am so digging this cavalier attitude to accuracy – it’s so fun!
I looked at a lot; silks, brocades, cotton prints etc but fell in love with this black eyelet in the end. I had been thinking I wanted black anyway and I loved the idea of a textured something. Knowing I was using eyelet on the bustle made it was too good to pass up.
So picture this: a black & white set of underwear. *evil laugh* The similar fabrics should help it look more “together” I think. So I will bind the corset in black but trim it in this striped ribbon. I may try to find an eyelet lace to put the ribbon through but we’ll see. I want to incorporate some black or striped ribbons on the bustle petticoat too – experimenting is needed for that. I think will go for some subtlety and line the eyelet in black, although lining it in white is tempting too. :P
Honestly how cute is this going to be? :> I also got some cotton twill for the interlining (a pretty chocolate brown – too bad it won’t ever been seen).
The orange fabric is a poly something I picked up on clearance at Hancocks earlier this week. The pic doesn’t do it justice – it looks and moves like liquid in person. I have no idea what I’ll do with it but I had to buy it for the Fire – too perfect to pass up! It' ws tempting to use it for the corset but I think the b&w better.
