scrapped balls & retail therapy
Oct. 8th, 2005 12:39 amI'm not going to the ball after all. I managed to double book myself that day. I thought I could do the MK conference and still make it back in time for the ball. It turns out North Carolina was further away than I thought and the rings I would have to jump through to make it to the ball made it silly to try. Unfortunately I figured this all out too late to bow out of the MK event.
In a way it's just as well. I really wanted to do both and now the decision has been made for me. It would have been horrible to choose between them. I am seriously disappointed about the ball though. I've been looking forward to it for months, even though I haven’t been to dance class consistently since school started and I'd barely started on my gown. It's all rather depressing.
So I took my refunded ball ticket money and did a bit of retail therapy tonight. I splurged on another pair of Cathy Johnson earrings - these to be exact. I love the earrings I bought from her this summer but I needed some pearl and silver earrings for everyday wear. Yep, needed. :> I have my eye on that Dolly Madison coral necklace too. It's tempting. I still have some birthday money that's burning a hole in my pocket... bad, bad Jenny. :> I really shouldn’t spend that much… maybe I should wait and ask for it for Christmas instead. Huummmmmm.
I still have plans to make my green ball gown. I have two events in December I could probably wear it to, the Stratford Hall occasion at least. I'm so tempted to make it a zone fronted gown. It would make it a bit late for RCHS events in general but I just love that style. I'm really a late 18th century girl at heart.
