I just can't seem to get motivated about sewing this week, so I haven't done anything. I think it's the weather. It's been raining and overcast most of the week, the type of weather that makes me want to curl up with a good book not sew. Well, breaks are good, right?

It has nothing to do with sewing but I'm so excited I must brag... I am the official owner of a cat! I've never had one of my very own, all the previous felines being family cats. I've given her the name Nefret, as I like Egyptian names for kitties (we've had several). Besides being a character in the Amelia Peabody series (which Mom loves), it is the name of a 12th Dynasty Pharaoh’s mother and later a Pharaoh’s sister. I believe it means "beautiful one" though I'm not sure on that. It fits my little kitty in any case. She is also known as baby or ferret-face. :>
I've actually had her for a while; she was one of a litter of kittens born in April to our newest cat, Tommy-girl. She was born on Easter actually. Tommy and the kittens were wild, feral cats until June when we brought them in the house and domesticated them. Tommy was already pretty much domesticated and has made the transition to an indoor kitty very well.
The plan was to keep Tommy and give away her three kittens. We got rid of two, leaving the smallest and only girl. We did try to give her away too, at first. I'd like to think it just wasn’t meant to be. The longer she stayed the more attached I became, until I asked Dad if I could officially adopt her. I have a small web-work income so I can afford her upkeep (just a little less money for fabric :>). Dad gave his permission last night so she is mine! *does happy dance*
She is a sweet thing, very cuddly and affectionate. She is a little hyper now but she's a kitten. Christmas should be fun! :> I think she will grow up to be a really good cat. She really has the cutest personality. She has the most adorable way of cocking her head all the way to one side and staring at you. Like she is saying "Your interesting and I'm really cute, huh?". Above are a few pics of my baby. The third is will her mom, Tommy. The last is my first pic of her, when she was still outside. How could I resist?! :>
