I've been lazy about this Ren Garb dress diary, forgive me. I'm still having issues with my camera and rather than deal with them I've spent the time sewing and cleaning the house. I gave in this morning and spent most of the morning trying to figure out the problem but no luck. I'm going to try and get Dad to look at it for me today. It's so frustrating, one day the program was working just fine and now it's giving me fits. Luckily we have more than one computer in the house. :>

I spent my sewing time today working the eyelets on the bodice. They are all done now and look pretty good. I didn't spend a lot of time on them but they are still better than those nasty grommets. I hate those things! Anyway, with the eyelets in it's all ready to be tiered on and have a dress toile fitted over it...

I cut and attached the lining to the corded bodice today. I very scientifically laid the bodice on an old sheet and cut around it. Okay, so I did line up the grain first. :> Old sheets are wonderful things!

I attached the lining to the two back edges. I then decided to add steel boning to the side seams. I was really pleased with the results of doing this last time. I had to wrestle with the pieces a bit to sew a length of bone casing to the inside of the lining. I love out it's so tidy on both the out and inside now. Very much worth the effort. *giggle* I then ran a basting stitch all round the bodice edges to keep the lining in place before I get the binding on. I thought I had some left-over purple binding from the last corded bodice but apparently not. I can't find it anyway. I think I'm going to wait to bind the bodice until after I work on the dress a bit. I want to make sure the bodice won't show at all and I want to see which fabric I end up using. I don't want a dark binding to show beneath that khaki. Very tacky.

I found the pics from yesterday, the ones I thought were gone forever. By some oversight, they hadn't been erased from the camera yet so I was able to get them again. Yay!

The Elvish gown is officially finished! *throws confetti* Bridget put the last bead on yesterday. It looks so amazing. I couldn't be more pleased with this gown. It has been such much fun to team-up with Bridget on it. I thoroughly enjoyed the process and using the best of our talents to produce something this nice.

I took some pics on of the dress on Narcissa this morning. It looks even more fabulous on Bridget. She is going to do a trial-run of her hair/makeup in the next few weeks and I'll take some pics of her in the gown then. She is going to do her hair like she did for Easter, with the addition of some hair extensions and sparkly hair bobbles.

We decided this gown really needed the Evenstar but since that is not an option at the moment, we had to be creative. I scrounged around in my jewelry stash and found a pair of highly gaudy earrings I picked up for no particular reason months ago. They were $.50 I believe and thought they might come in handy for something. Well they have! I popped one of the earrings off it's hook, put a little jump ring on it and put it on a silver chain. Et voici, the perfect necklace. *big 'ole grin* I can not wait to see the finished look on B!!!!

I'll be posting the diary for this costume on my site in the next few days... I'll let you know when it's online.

I have totally stressed my eyes out, I know it. I was a very bad girl and spent the entire day in front of the computer. Did I spend it doing stuff that needs to be done? Nope! Spent the day fiddling with my costuming site, you know a few pages that have bugged me. Not that the old versions weren’t totally adequate or anything… I'm so weak! Here is the Log report if you are curious to see what I've been up to:

July 17 2004
Gallery updated: I have combined the old gallery index and the Promenade. New format and write-ups for most things in a style totally stolen...umm I mean inspired, yeah that's right - inspired by Mode Historic and Festive Attyre. I enjoyed their costume galleries so much I decided I needed one similar. I'm still working on those costumes that have dress dairies, for now they are linked to their DDs.

Journals updated: new diary Elvish Blues, featuring Bridget's costume for this year's Ren Faire. This is a post-completion diary, an attempt to not overwhelm myself with too many current diaries but still put the info on the site. All that is left to do is to take finial pics of Bridget in the costume. Look for those in a few weeks.

I've also changed the format on the Journal page a bit. The completed diaries are organized a bit better, at least I think they are.
