I cut out that sea foam green for the elvish dress. Ah, slippery fabrics are such fun – NOT! May I just say that rotary cutters are wonderful things for naughty fabrics! :>

I also cut the silk for my velvet Rohan pillow. I decided to use an appliquéd horse motif in the silk after all. I’m not a big appliqué person but I love the look of the original Golden Hall banners and they were appliquéd so…

I found a pic online of my favorite horse motif, played with the image a bit before sizing it and printed it out. I then traced the outline of the printed pic with a thin marker. I flipped the paper over and had a clear outline to follow. I traced that outline onto some fusible interfacing then fused the interfacing to a scrap of silk. Following the tracing on the interfacing, I cut the shapes out and carefully assembled them on a piece of paper. Here are some pics of the process:

Now I have to figure out a clever way to get the pieces, some of which are quite small, onto the velvet pillow blank. I don’t want to use glue as I’m going to hand sew and embellish the motif with embroidery. Basting them on by hand sounds tedious. Perhaps I can use more fusible interfacing. Can you get it in double-sided stuff?
