on the subject of voting
I went and voted about 11:30 today. One of the best things about working from home is getting to vote without the crowd. *yay* Although I have to say it did take about 45 mins this time - forever in my history of voting. Huge voter turnout in my area according to one of the workers I talked to. Nice to see, especially here in VA where the races are so tight.
May I make a small request that no matter the results we wake up to in the morn, that thoughts/rants on the outcome be put behind a warning cut? There are so many of you dear f-list costumers that I admire and respect for your costuming abilities and because you are just such a great person. In many cases it's a respect despite our differences in political opinion though. Last election it was a little hard to take some of the post election rants, as many of them forcefully vented and raged against the very things I personally believe and voted for. It was hard not to take it personally at times so I stopped reading my f-list completely for a few days. And that was sad - I love reading my f-list!!
It's not that I don't think we should rant or share our political leanings on a personal LJ, (I just choose not to most of the time) but to simply be considerate knowing that others read it too and give a little warning and a cut. Thanks – I appreciate it!

I don't care what someone's political leanings are, as long as they are respectful about it. But I find that a lot of people just make personal statements about anyone who feels a certain way, and it's hard not to take that kind of stuff personally.
I keep my mouth shut about politics, because I'm sure that if I vented my positions on things, it would put some of my friends off. So I don't. But obviously other people don't feel the same way about it. So I just try not to be turned off by them, and look past it. But it's hard to do around election-time. Either I have to listen to gloating or complaints, so I can't win!
Ah well.
