on the subject of voting

I went and voted about 11:30 today. One of the best things about working from home is getting to vote without the crowd. *yay* Although I have to say it did take about 45 mins this time - forever in my history of voting. Huge voter turnout in my area according to one of the workers I talked to. Nice to see, especially here in VA where the races are so tight.

May I make a small request that no matter the results we wake up to in the morn, that thoughts/rants on the outcome be put behind a warning cut? There are so many of you dear f-list costumers that I admire and respect for your costuming abilities and because you are just such a great person. In many cases it's a respect despite our differences in political opinion though. Last election it was a little hard to take some of the post election rants, as many of them forcefully vented and raged against the very things I personally believe and voted for. It was hard not to take it personally at times so I stopped reading my f-list completely for a few days. And that was sad - I love reading my f-list!!

It's not that I don't think we should rant or share our political leanings on a personal LJ, (I just choose not to most of the time) but to simply be considerate knowing that others read it too and give a little warning and a cut. Thanks – I appreciate it!

Also agreed and appreciated!

Looks like we might not have that answer on Virginia so soon :/

It's good to hear that voter turnout is high in other places! :) My area had a higher number of voters too, which results in lines, but it's a small price to pay for being able to vote.

I hear you. No one on my f-list has bothered to do so, and though it's their LJ, I just don't enjoy reading the political content. I felt the same way you did during the last election - and I can't say I'm much looking forward to the next one. If my "side" wins, I feel like I can't say anything, because I don't like rubbing things in people's faces, or alienating my friends who don't agree with me, and but if my "side" loses, I have to listen to it from everyone else. So I can't win either way. Sigh.

what a wonderfully polite way to request what many of us feel.
