neckerchief news

My cunning little pattern for the neckerchief didn’t quite work out. The Merseyside pattern made for a cute little shawl but not quite what I was looking for. It actually is very similar to the little shawl that was worn by Marguerite in the Grenville ball sequence in the 1982 version of The Scarlet Pimpernel. Scary I notice these things.

Anyway, here are some pictures to show you what that shape looks like on. To make the pattern, I just took the sketch and enlarged it in the computer until the length was 44 inches. I printed out the pattern, traced it onto tissue paper and cut the toile from there.

At this point I think I will wait until the gown pattern is fitted, then drape a pattern for the neckerchief.

Cable ties for 18C corset

Oooh! Oooh!! I've done it! I made a dress based on Elizabeth's gold dress from Pirates of the Caribbean a while back, and my corset was boned (pretty heavily) with cable ties. There is a kindof notreally dress diary at http://www.thir.net/index.php?topic=ABlog (it's all mixed in with the rest of my life... Scroll down till you see a picture, then scroll down some more for corset-only pics). Worked for me!

By the way, can I pleease 'friend' you? I've been following your work for a while now (it's beautiful!!) - I think I originally arrived at your site through Festive Attyre, but I can't really remember. I'm intending to use my LJ account for sewing/costume-y things, so you won't be inundated with work-rants or chinchillas. ;)

OK, duhh, replying to myself; I see from your user info that you're happy to have people friend you but won't necessarily friend *them* - makes sense. Sorry - very new to this LJ thing... >.

Thanks for showing me the pics of your stays in progress, it was helpful. That is about the amount of boning I was thinking I'd use too. Cool! Please do feel free to friend me if you'd like to! :>
