suckage

So life sucks today. I'm not going to go into all of it but it sucks big time. *sigh* Even though I'm not really feeling it at the moment, I know Jesus is totally in control though & this in only a season. I'm just ready for this season to end. Seriously NOW would be a good time.

So one of the sucky things is that my jennylafleur.com domain is completely screwed up. I'm not even going to go into what happened but it's down and will be for at least a month. I'm trying to decide if I should just get another domain (any brillent names suggestions?) or switch everything over to the family domain (chateauwhite) temporarily. I don't know yet… I need to ponder.

These are the days I’m so happy I have LiveJournal – my pics may be down but at least you can find me online if you need to!

I’ll keep you guys up to date on developments…

I can relate :( I've been having one of those seasons for a decade now? way too long.

I hope your internet home is swiftly returned to you! And for other happy Monday things.

Thanks! I hope your season changes soon!

You read Jon Courson, so I won't go into all that (so cool, though). One more thing... God never takes something away that He doesn't replace it with something much better - even if it isn't what you expect...

"Tenacity is more than endurance, it is endurance combined with the absolute certainty that what we are looking for is going to transpire. Tenacity is more than hanging on, which may be but the weakness of being too afraid to fall off...Then comes the call to spiritual tenacity, not to hang on and do nothing, but to work deliberately on the certainty that God is not going to be worsted...If our hopes are being disappointed just now, it means that they are being purified. There is nothing noble the human mind has ever hoped for or dreamed of that will not be fulfilled. One of the greatest strains in life is the strain of waiting for God. "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience."

Remain spiritually tenacious." ~ Oswald Chambers

This isn't to pick a fight...but what if God didn't take away the thing in your life? What if it just happened, or it's an evil influence? That is certainly borne out in my own life. If we have free will then God can't be fully in charge of the world. If God isn't fully in charge of the world then He doesn't cause everything. Thus a place for free will. Good or bad.

[identity profile] suededsilk.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Less as debate, but more as comfort:
Just because He's in control doesn't mean He causes everything...and just because we have free will, it doesn't mean He's not still in charge. He's outside time; stuff doesn't take Him by surprise. He knows what has happened, is happening, and will happen...and He's already figured everything into His plans. Evil and our own foibles included.

[identity profile] s0mmer.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. I am still troubled by my own life and how horribly painful it is. I don't think any explanation is acceptable; that's just how life is sometimes. Only conclusion I can live with, anyway.

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Very well put [livejournal.com profile] suededsilk. We live in a fallen world, it just sucks here. Come quickly Lord Jesus!

[identity profile] s0mmer.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Amen!

[identity profile] cracked-code.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
However, if, in your free will, you surrender your life to God and ask Him to be your Sovereign Lord in everything (as I know Jenny has done), then you give Him the right to be in control, and you accept that what comes (or goes) has been carefully sifted through His fingers (figurative)...

:-)

You are free to choose - you just choose Him!

*hugs* Thanks for being my go-to girl today and letting me alternatly cry and ramble on about unimportant things. I luv you!

::hugs:: Is there anything I can do to help?

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Not unless you can reverse time... can you? :> The hugs do help though - thx!

*hugs*
Indeed, it's so good to know that God always *is* in control, even if we don't feel like it.

I hope your day is a little more cheery, and that your website problems get straightened out. :)

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for your comments, hugs and good wishes - they really helped today! *hugs*

Just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear you're having a tough time right now - waiting on God's timing can be so frustrating.

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
So true... waiting is SO hard!

[identity profile] sewaddicted.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
that really is major suckage!! I'm so glad that you're still online at LJ.

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Thank goodness for LJ!

As with the others, I can only send you a big [[hug]] and hope this doesn't last long.
And I'm really sorry to hear about your website. I hope you're able to save everything to put it somewhere. I know that's a lot of work going into it. *JennyRose* instead of Jennylafleur?

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2010-03-16 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my website is fully intact (I'm a religous back-up gal!), its the domain that is the problem. Jennyrose is taken unfortunatly. :< *sigh* Yeah losing data would have been even worse!

[identity profile] gilded-garb.livejournal.com 2010-03-15 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
*hugs* I'm sorry things have been rough. Here's hoping they get better soon!

Sorry things are tough right now. And that your domain is screwed up. :-(

Thx!

*big, big hugs to you* I'm sending so many good thoughts your way.

*hugs* Have I mentioned I miss you lately? :

I miss you! *wishes for teleportation device*

Well, yay for google. I thought my internet had died (yet again: dreadful college servers) when I couldn't get a bookmark from your website to load! But here lie all the answers. How dreadful about your server! And woe to we who rely on your expertise. :) How am I ever going to figure out what sort of hemp cord I need now?! Really though, beyond my personal corsetry woes - good luck!

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2010-03-18 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you found me! Google rocks. :> I'm still working on the domain issues but fingers crossed the site should be back up by next week, hopefully sooner. If I can help in the meantime though just let me know! If there is a specific page you were looking for I can also uplaod it to my family's site temporarily...

[identity profile] bygoneglamour.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
If I could get my paws on your information about alternative forms of boning, I'd be a happy girl. I'm trying to do a set of 1830s stays (and, er, everything else) and there's SO little information about that period, plus I've never corded anything before! The next adventure will be coaxing someone at the blacksmithing/machine shop (hippie college: it is full of interesting things) to make me a busk...

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Looks like the site is back up... let me know if you have any questions!

[identity profile] bygoneglamour.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Hopefully your server will behave more nicely in the future. :)

[identity profile] bygoneglamour.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Poking around again, I'm reminded that you've actually made up the Past Patterns 1830-40 stay pattern. I've been debating whether or not to get it, as I'm on a tight budget, commercial patterns never anywhere near fit me so I'd have to redraft extensively anyway, and I have a LOT of images of extants and period illustrations collected to look at, as well as quite a few pattern diagrams. I've cleared out a few libraries. So I'm thinking of just trying to do it myself, basing the design primarily on the Workwoman's Guide. So my question is - would it be worth it to buy the pattern? Is the documentation massively useful? I've already gone absurdly over-budget on fabric!
