eyelet results

I got half the eyelets done on my Regency stays last night. Keeping in mind [livejournal.com profile] koshka_the_cat's example, I was trying not to be so anal-retentive about my eyelets this time. They didn't come out as crappy as [livejournal.com profile] koshka_the_cat's but I tried, I really did. Perfectionisim is a hard rap to beat! :>

Not too shabby, 12 eyelets in 4 hours. What's that about 20 minutes an eyelet? That was with little breaks to rest my eyes/wrists and thaw out my numbed brain too.

Thank you - I'm really pleased with the way they've turned out! :>

Lovely! And now you're so close to finishing!

So close but so far away... dratted eyelets and binding! :P

LOL :)

Actually, my latest eyelets aren't so bad. I save the truly crappy ones for when I know I don't have the hand strength, like on 18c stays. You're right though--unless they show, I can't bring myself to make really nice eyelets!

I do a mean embroidered eyelet though. One of my better embroidery stitches :)

Aww, don’t burst my bubble - you give hope to us impatient perfectionists out there! Long live the WWKD crappy eyelet!! :>

I like embroidered eyelets too. Heck I like anything embroidered... I really need an embroidery project it's been a while since I've had one. I keep hesitating though, still slightly burned out from the Pearl I think. :P

WWKD for the win! The eyelets look great, even if they aren't perfect!

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! What would we do without WWKD? :>

oh those are fantastic! I don't see the imperfections you noted...they looks fabulous to me (this is coming from someone who shrieks and runs in the opposite direction when the words "handsewn" and "eyelets" are combined.)

Your costuming and determination is always an inspiration to me. Thank you!

Thanks! Yes, I don't find handsewn eyelets to be much fun myself. But they hold up so much better than the metal gromments, at least for me.

*sighs dramtically* The things I do for my art! :>

I stand in awe! well done

I think they're looking good! :) I really hate how mind numbing working eyelets by hand is... I have to say, that is the one thing about historic costuming I don't miss. rofl!

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2009-08-14 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
That's right, rub it in! :P

Wow, your eyelets and stays look really nice! I just learned how to do those a little bit ago and wow, I'm impressed at how fast you do them.
