Oh, I love these. I wasn't really allowed to eat them as a child, but my Grandfather used to buy one for me if I went to the hardware store with him. Mmm, illicit sweets!

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2009-02-09 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
One plus of being an adult - no more illicit sweets! :>

I SO love those too! You're a chocolate lover after my own heart. :)

I don't remember first seeing one until I was about 10 years old and even at that advanced childhood age they seemed like magic.

Yes - there are reasons we are friends I guess! :>

Wow, you have those in America now? Doesn't Cadbury's beat the pants off Hershey's?! We've always been underwhelmed by American chocolate :D

[identity profile] jennylafleur.livejournal.com 2009-02-09 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Thankfully yes! It's one of the few Cadbury's products we get that is actually made by Cadbury (that isn't an expensive import in a specialty store). I got addicted to Cadbury's fruit and nut bars after a visit to England and was jazzed to find some in my local Walmart. They didn't taste nearly as good though and when I looked at the back of the package, sure enough "made for Cadbury by Hershey". Yuck - now what is the point of that! Needless to say I'm not a Hershey fan. America has some descent chocolate (See's Candies!) but Hershey is definitely not it. Now I always look on the back of a Cadbury package to make sure it's the real deal.

A Cadbury snob... it's a little sad really. :>

And if you've sampled Cadbury's, the next step up is Lindt - Swiss chocolate. If Cadbury's is good, Lindt is divine. Have you tried that?
