In the dark ages, how would jennylafleur die?

You would be eaten by wolves while collecting firewood. Crap.
'How would you die in the dark ages?' at QuizGalaxy.com

LOL! Well that would be crappy, especially the having to collect firewood part. :P

Oh I like the sound of this!!

In 2007, jennylafleur resolves to...
Buy new dress diaries.
Put fifty lotr costumes a month into my savings account.

Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to list 10 movies: your 5 Favorites & your 5 Guilty Pleasures. Then, pick 5 of your friends and tag them. No tag backs. This explanation should be included.

Favorites: (in no particular order)
1. Lord of the Rings (need I say more)
2. Radio (it makes me want to cry and cheer at the same time)
3. Shackleton (with Branaugh - when life gets hard, this puts things back into perspective)
4. P&P (Not that I really need to watch it, I have it memorized so well)
5. Duchess of Duke Street (so funny & the costumes - *swoons*)

Guilty Pleasures (in no particular order):
1. Titanic (it's so bad but it's just so darn PRETTY!)
2. The Bourne Identity (sometimes you just need to watch an action flick, especially one with Matt Damon!)
3. Lara Croft (it's B's fault I'm addicted)
4. Gosford Park (I normally don't watch R rated movies but this one is so darn good!)
5. Poldark (what can I say I like watching people try their darnedest to wreck their lives in an overly dramtic way - besides the costumes!)

I tag those who wish to be tagged...

Five Christmas Queries

1. Will you be having a white Christmas?
No, we will have a rainy Christmas. *blah* Bring on the migraines! *pouts*

2. Best present you could get/have already received this season?
So far the best is What Marie Antoinette Wore to the Revolution – yay! The rest of the surprises will have to wait for Christmas.

3. Egg nog or snogging under the mistletoe?
Neither at this point. In theory the snogging but one needs a guy for that and I don’t have one of them yet! :>

4. Is time on your side?
Not really, although I think it will be okay. I keep thinking tomorrow is Christmas Eve when it’s not so I’m feeling panicky without cause. I’d be totally golden if when weren’t traveling to the grandparents on Christmas Eve – bah humbug!

5. Favorite holiday tradition:
The food. We have been collecting decadent favorites for a month now for the special day, including a hamper from Fortnum & Mason. I can’t wait for the feasting (and champagne-ing) to begin!

From [livejournal.com profile] padawansguide. Because I'm a curious sort of being...

- What costume (that I could realistically pull off) would you like to see me do?

- What costume (with no constraints on time, skill, or money) would like to see me do?

- Which costume that I've completed do you like best?

- What genre or time period costume do you think I should do more of?

LJ interests meme results

  1. blackwork:
One of the most elegant forms of embroidery in my opinion. Also one of the easiest and most relaxing to work. Gotta love that Holbein stitch!!
  2. costuming:
Umm... duh! It keeps me sane, if broke.
  3. embroidery:
I love pretty handwork. It's becoming such a lost art with all the fancy embroidery machines around now. It's also budget healthy - you can use cheaper fabrics with fabulous results with a bit of embellishment. *wink*
  4. fashion plates:
I'm a visual person so I find them very helpful in reasearch, so much more than written discriptions. They are so pretty too!
  5. handsewing:
A must for costuming. Some things are just easier by hand.
  6. historical costume:
    See #2
  7. homeschool graduate:
    That's me!
  8. jean hunnisett:
The resources she left us with are invaluable. I'm learned so much from her books!
  9. lotr costumes:
They are so gorgeous. I'm still in awe that I got to see a few in person!!
  10. medieval music:
I love old music, it's so lovely. Medieval is what I turn on when I want to think and relax.

I've updated my website with event galleries from 4th of July, the Ren Faire and Gunston Hall. You have seen all the Ren Faire pics on this LJ but the RCHS events have a few never seen before pics if you want to take a peek. :>

I'm horribly behind on this quiz of [livejournal.com profile] sewphisticate but what can I say, it's been an insane weekend!

*waves weakly* Hi all. Yes, I am still alive, but I’ll still sick as well.

*cough* *sniff, sniff*

I know it hasn’t really been that long but I think this has been one of the longest weeks of my life. The days just dragged on and on. I have not been this ill in a long time. Wretched flu! Today was the first day in a while that I thought life might be worth living again. :P It was also the first day since Wednesday that I could talk aloud. I’m glad to not be writing everything down - that was getting real old! Mom, Dad and B are still sick as well, all in various stages of feeling blah. It is a definite bummer when the entire family is feeling wretched all at the same time; there is no one to cater the sickies. :>

*cough* *sniff* *cough*

I am feeling like I’m finally on the mend, although it will probably be a little while before I’m feeling 100% myself again. I foresee the cough lingering for some time. I’m feeling just well enough to be antsy and wanting to be doing something other than watching movies. Until I actually get up and try to do something of course, and then I’m exhausted again. *blah*

But enough of my whining. I shouldn’t complain really, I’m home and can take it easy. Bridget has to go back to school tomorrow and can’t just give into this thing. Poor thing.

I’ve managed to get a bit of beading done in the last few days, although not as much as I would like. Hopefully now that I’m feeling a bit more human I can pick up the pace on the project once more.

"There is a huge chunk of you that I don't even have a clue about your first name. I don't know how old a lot of you are, or where you live, or basic normal things. This is the problem with LJ, we all think we are so close, and we know nothing about each other.

I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. I promise, I will not make fun of you, or say who asked what.

I then invite you to do the same. Remember, seriously basic stupid questions, don't be embarrassed, you would be really shocked what I don't know about you."

The LOTR outfits are all cut out now. *throws confetti*

I’m wiped! I know I stressed out too much about cutting the velvet because I’m exhausted and I had a headache all day. The headache was probably weather related, usually the cause, but I’m sure the self-induced strain didn’t help. The drugs eventually kicked in so I was able to work all day. Whoever came up with Excedrin Migraine should be sainted – I love that stuff!

I decided not to make a slip after all. I was going to make a full length slip, as a chemise for my costume, out of the left over (undyed) silk. I apparently didn’t read the pattern very carefully the first time and I don’t have enough silk. The pattern is bias cut, so I can’t really fudge it. Turns out all the slip patterns in the house are bias cut. Weird. I‘m thinking about just splurging on one of the silk slip blanks from Dharma now. Ummm…
